EXIMBANK was awarded the “Moldova in SEPA” Trophy by the National Bank of Moldova

The National Bank of Moldova has launched the first edition of the NBM Governor’s Gala this September 16^h, 2026, an event dedicated to recognizing excellence and outstanding achievements in the financial and banking sector.

EXIMBANK was awarded the “Moldova in SEPA” trophy in recognition of its professionalism, contribution to the banking sector, and active involvement in the European financial integration process of the Republic of Moldova through the implementation and development of payment services within the SEPA framework.

The trophy was received by Mr. Massimo LANZA, Chairman of the Board, during the event held in Chișinău.

The accession to SEPA has strengthened transparency and trust in the financial system, strategically aligning the Republic of Moldova with European best practices in the field of payments.

The Republic of Moldova became an operational member of SEPA on October 6, 2025. During the first 11 months following the connection, approximately 1.1 million transfers with a total value of around EUR 7.6 billion were processed through the system. The use of SEPA enabled citizens and businesses to save an estimated EUR 15 million, while the average cost of a transfer was approximately EUR 1, significantly lower than traditional international transfer fees, based on the data published on the website of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
