Important: New Security Measures – Strict Custo

Dear customers,

Starting from February 1, 2025, in accordance with Regulation No. 12 of January 11, 2024, issued by the National Bank of Moldova, strict customer authentication (SCA) has been implemented as a measure to enhance the security of financial transactions.

The main goal of this measure is to protect you from fraudulent activities and ensure that only you have access to your accounts and funds.

What does this mean for you?

During financial transactions, you may be required to provide additional authorization. Here are some examples:

  • Online purchases: After entering your card details, you may be asked to confirm the transaction through the mobile banking app, using a security code or biometric authentication.
  • In-store purchases (offline): If you exceed a specific transaction limit or amount, you will be asked to enter your card PIN to authorize the payment.

Why are these measures necessary?

These requirements are implemented to protect your accounts and transactions from potential fraud and to ensure that only you have access to your funds. The implementation of SCA significantly reduces fraud risks and helps strengthen the stability and trust in the financial system.

Recommendations for your security:

  • Confidentiality of information: Never disclose your card details, including your PIN, CVV2/CVC2, or any other password associated with financial accounts. This information is confidential and should not be shared with anyone, including bank employees or payment service providers.
  • Device protection: Ensure that the devices you use to access financial services are protected with secure passwords and are regularly updated. Do not access financial accounts from public or unsecured devices.
  • Account monitoring: Periodically check your account statements and transaction history to spot any suspicious activity. If you notice unauthorized transactions, immediately contact your bank or payment service provider to take action.
  • Beware of fraud attempts: Do not enter personal or card details on insecure websites or platforms that do not match the official addresses of financial institutions. If you receive unsolicited messages or phone calls asking for confidential information, immediately stop communication and contact the financial institution directly.

These measures are essential to ensure that your transactions are secure and to prevent unauthorized access to your funds and personal information.

Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a robust financial environment.

Sincerely,
EXIMBANK
